Startup founders and entrepreneurs can now use generative AI to quickly design their web or mobile app with a simple prompt.
I did the early product and UX design of almost all of my startups. The design process was creative and very manual. I used to go outside and talk with potential customers, then I built story boards, users flows and eventually wireframes.
Wireframes are flat and simple sketches of the core elements of the designs: buttons, placeholders for images and texts. Sometimes I would use it by hand but usually I used programs like Adobe illustrator and Sketch to do those. I would then go out and present it to users and see how they interact with those designs.
After a few iterations, I would go back and build a mock-up and interactive demo. I would design on Photoshop and Figma and then upload to InVision to create a dynamic demo, that I would sent to people’s mobile phones. I would then look at engagements, clicks and heatmaps.
Today, founders, product managers and designers can simply prompt engineer their way to their product design.
The
Labs team built a new generative AI design tools called Stich (still in beta). Founders, PMs and designers can simply type a prompt where they describe what they want to build. Then based on the model training and its understanding of product design, Stitch generates a complete user flow, storyboard and eventually a screen design.Stitch also will give you follow up prompts as recommendations to additional features or screens you should consider adding. It’s like working with a designer who has context to other applications and best practices.
As part of my research, I investigate and experiment with AI tools and models that can help entrepreneurs and investors to accelerate company building and venture investment processes.
I created this video to make founders, PMs and designers curious about working with AI to have a creative product design process. Stitch does not replace a designer but it definitely amplifies and inspires the work you can have at the early stage where you have nothing.
Using vibe coding applications and Stitch could really accelerate your path to pushing your product out there for users and accelerate your learning and product iteration.
Sophie Miller, Kelly Schaefer, Cheng-Cheng L. and the Google Labs team are building more AI tools like Flow where founders and entrepreneurs can build fast products, brand and their narrative, and test it in the real world with minimal costs and maximum creativity powered by AI.
